MOCA | out & about in LA

Over the summer break, we decided to try to see more of our own city. Every major city that we've visited, we made sure to check out the museums. Ironically, I have not been to many of the famous museums in my own city, including the MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art). It was smaller than I imagined, but it was perfect for a 1/2 day visit.

Here, you will see images of art from their permanent collection. I don't always "get" what modern art is about, but I enjoy looking at interesting pieces that puzzle me the most. And then there are also work that I can't help but laugh hysterically and wonder why it is even in the museum =)




This huge metal sculpture, located outside of MOCA, is made up of scraps of airplane parts wired together. "Chas' Stainless Steel, Mark Thompson's Airplane Parts, About 1,000 Pounds of Stainless Steel Wire, and Gagosian's Beverly Hills Space at MOCA" by Nancy Rubins.

Mmmm... wonder what this couple was saying about this painting by the famous Jackson Pollock. Maybe it went something like this: Guy- "I don't get it. Do you?" Girl- "Nope. I don't either." Hubby and I would have this type of exchange in front of many pieces here =)

Afterwards, we crossed the street to the beautiful Disney Concert Hall.
